Head coach of the Trinidad & Tobago Beach Soccer team, Ramiro Amarelle is optimistic that his team will perform well after announcing the 18-man squad for the upcoming CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship which will be held in Alajuela, Costa Rica from May 17-23.
The Spaniard Amarelle said, “We are thinking to do the right things and not fret. Our expectations are to do our best and win every match. We are not thinking of any other options after the competition it will let us know where we are at. We are building a good style; they are very committed, improving in their communication, physical condition and coordination.”
The former Barcelona player said, “We collect a group of players with huge experience also very good quality. They show us that we can create a very good long-term program with them. I think they will give much more than they think and I am very happy for that.”
T&T Beach Soccer men were drawn in a tough group as they will face the home team Costa Rica, United States and Turks and Caicos Islands in Group C.
The top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams advance to the quarter-finals. The sole venue for the event is the Complejo Deportivo FEDEFUTBOL Plycem, in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The two finalists in the tournament will progress to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup which is scheduled to be held from August 19–29, 2021, in Moscow, Russia.
The round-robin matches will be played between May 17-19 whilst, the quarterfinal matches begin on May 21st, followed by the semifinals on May 22nd and the final one day later.
The Beach Soca Warriors have competed in three previous CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championships. They finished 7th in Nassau, Bahamas (2013), 5th in Costa del Sol, El Salvador (2015) and sixth in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (2019).
