Benny outclasses defence force; burke late winner saves police fc

Che Benny was spectacular for AC POS and was directly involved in all goals for his team by scoring a goal and assisting three to complete a gritty 4-3 victory over Defence Force.

Jameel Neptune headed home the opener for AC in the 19th minute from a right-footed cross from Benny. Army pulled a goal back in the 27th minute from striker Dwight Quintero.

Three minutes later, Neptune ran unto a through ball from Benny to score his brace and the 2-1 lead. AC continue to look for more goals and Shanwdell Augustus gave them the two-goal cushion in the 37th minute. However, Army`s Brent Sam cut the lead to 3-2 in injury time of the first half.

Sam then equalized at the hour mark making it even more interesting tied at 3-3. The goal was Sam`s tenth goal of the season and tied at the top. But it was Benny`s night and he sealed the 4-1victory in the 71st minute with a well-composed finish to put the icing on the cake of what was an exception performance by the midfielder.

Moruga FC improved performances continued as they claimed their first point of the tournament with a nil-nil draw with Cunupia FC who picked up their first point of the second round.

Police FC left it very late to grab a narrow 1-0 win against Real West Fort to remain third on 27 points. Elijah Burke dagger erupted the home crowd at the St James Barracks was in the 90+3 minute and was virtually the last kick of the game.
