Forbes Save T&T in 0-0 draw against Panama

Trinidad and Tobago`s goalkeeper Kimika Forbes had a commendable performance to register a 0-0 draw against the Central American visitors Panama in the first of the two international friendly matches held on Thursday at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

Making his international coaching debut was former Soca Warriors captain Kenwyne Jones after he agreeing to be the coach a few days prior to the kick-off on Thursday. The 37-year-old, Jones had a couple sessions with the team, and he didn’t extend himself too much as he started the experienced players.

Forbes` heroics between the uprights ensured that her team remained goalless and secured a promising result against the higher ranked Panamanians. The Tobagonian goalie who is the older sister of skipper Karyn Forbes was excellent throughout the game making several crucial saves.

The Women Warriors had other standout performances from former captain and the evergreen midfielder Maylee Attin-Johnson, Rhea Belgraves was rock-solid in defence and Mexican-based Victoria Swift put in a good shift.

The two teams will do battle once again on Monday at the same venue starting at 3:30pm behind closed doors.
