Gary Griffith III scored a goal in either half to sink Moruga FC 5-0 on Sunday in waterlogged conditions at the St. James Baracks.
Real West Fort United was fortunate to get the lead as Moruga`s Jezneel Duntin mistakenly kicked the ball into his own net in the 22nd minute. Five minutes later, Griffith nifty footwork and trickery earned him a penalty. He stepped and converted in the 26th minute, it was not well executed but good enough to beat goalkeeper Kervelle Turner who chose the correct side.
Former youth national player Josimar Belgrave made it three nil in the 36th minute. He slapped it home close range after his skipper Keron “Ballpest” Cummings laid it off on a platter for him.
Cordell Samuel beat the offside trap to meet a ball drilled over the top, dribbled passed goalie Turner to calmly slot home the fourth goal in the 53rd minute. Then, two minutes from regulation time Griffith got his second goal of the match and his team`s fifth and final goal. The ball slipped through the hands of goalie Turner as he came to gather what should have been a simple routine save and Griffith was lurking to slip it into the empty.
