Moruga FC captured their first victory of the campaign when they defeated Central Soccer World 3-1 on Saturday at the Arima Velodrome.
Moruga FC have shown improvements in the second round of the Ascension Tournament and were finally rewarded with their first three points. The Southern team scored three goals in the second period of the match to seal the victory. Their scorers were Rayon Alleyne (52nd), Ronald Edwards (61st), Kervelle Turner 87th. The lone man on the list for CSW was Leroy Whyle in the 75th minute.
A double in either half from Cunupia FC striker Trevin Caesar gave his team a comfortable 3-1 win against West Fort United.
Caesar broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with an easy tap in goal from a beautiful assist drilled in from the right flank from a counter- attack. West Fort had an opportunity to equalize a short while after when Josimar Belgrave was fouled in the box and was awarded a penalty by referee Cecile Hinds. However, the former youth player, Belgrave had his strike saved by a diving Stefan Berkely who made it looked easy as he secured the precious 1-0 lead into halftime.
The in-form Belgrave made amends from his first half penalty miss by leveling the score 1-1 in the 58th minute. Then, the speedy Tobagonian Caesar beat the offside trap to run unto a well-weighted pass to bang in a superb strike past goalkeeper Theon Brown for the 2-1 lead. And in the 82nd minute, Haile Farell`s calm finish erased any chances of a comeback when he extended the lead 3-1 which was the last goal of the match.
