Police Stay in the Title Hunt After Victory

Police FC remain in the Ascension Football Tournament title race after they defeated Central 3-1 on Sunday at their home in the St. James Barracks.

Police sit third on the table with 21 points (7 wins, 2 losses) and are two points behind Terminix La Horquetta Rangers and Defence Force whilst Central Fc are in ninth position totalling 5 points (1 win, 2 draws).

Captain Kareem De Freitas got the ball rolling for the Lawmen when he lifted a Xavier Rajpaul chip pass into an empty goal for the 1-0 lead at the half hour mark in the match.

Central FC were able to pull a goal back in the 57th minute to level the score-line 1-1 when Leandro DaCosta met a freekick from Tario Mulrane. However, defender Kemron Purcell restored the lead making it 2-1 for the home team, scoring his fourth header of the tournament from a Jabari Mitchell right-sided corner.

Mitchell who was the best performer of the match got his goal in the 90+3 when De Freitas` cross was chested down by Juma Clarence for Mitchell to slap it home for the 3-1 score.
