Rangers, Deportivo PF March on with Victories

Terminix La Horquetta Rangers extended their lead at the top of the Ascension Football Tournament with a convincing 5-2 victory over Real West Fort United on Friday at the La Horquetta Grounds.

Kahim Thomas opened the scoring for the home team after collecting a pass from Real Gill on the right flank and volleyed home in the 14th minute. Talisman Tyrone Charles doubled the lead for the table toppers Rangers seven minutes later. Charles was the first player to react to the initial shot that come off the crossbar to calmly slotted it home. Charles then turned provider when he slipped a pass through for Jomoul Francois who finished first time for the 3-0 lead in minute 42.

However, one minute later former Rangers player Keron “Ballpest” Cummins cut into the lead when he greeted a Sean De Silva cross with a smooth left-footed shot at the top of the box. Mere seconds after the start of the second half Charles scored his second goal of the match and his team`s fourth with an exquisite finish far post.

Real West Fort`s Osei Charles scored an own goal in the 78th minute gifting Rangers their fifth goal and Cummins scored from the penalty spot three minutes later to round off the scoring in the match at 5-2. Rangers move on to 16 points whilst Real West Fort are stuck on 7 points.

Deportivo Point Fortin secured a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Central Soccer World. Striker Shackiel Henry scored the first goal (21st) and eight minutes midfielder Mark Ramdeen made it 2-0. Former national midfielder and veteran Hughton Hector sealed the 3-0 win with a goal two minutes before the end of the match. Deportivo PF`s second win in the tournament moved them up to six points while Central Soccer World remained on 4 points.
