Young and upcoming star-player Real Gill received his maiden call up for the National Senior Men`s team and he was full of praises to those who guided him in achieving his boyhood dream.
The 19-year-old winger said, “I want to thank Anthony “Dada” Wickham for growing me up in football then sending me to Terminix La Horquetta Rangers. Playing with Rangers I was able to express myself and I got to make the national team. My experience with Rangers has done well for me so far and it helped in my development. It has brought me to another level.” Gill has been a regular starter and has performed credibly for Rangers in the ongoing Ascension Football Tournament.
Commenting on what it means to represent his country, he said, “It is a pleasure because from small I always wanted to do this.” He explained, “I can add a lot to this team, there are some good guys and with a little bit of my influence I can make this team better. We can go out there and compete and I`m not fearful of anybody.”
Gill reflected on his path, “Growing up I didn’t have time to go football because I was studying school.” He admitted there were obstacles along the way and his environment wasn’t always positive, but he found an outlet. “Football has helped me a lot to come out of this because there are lots of gang wars. It saved my life and I`m getting to do what I love most. I will be very glad to have little children looking at me as an ambassador of this country.”
