Kevon “Showtime” Woodley scored a brace to secure a 2-0 victory for Cunupia FC against Moruga FC in the fourth round of the Ascension Football Tournament played at the Arima Velodrome on Monday.

The teams needed a couple minutes to adjust to the damped conditions at the Velodrome as the heavy downpour made playing a bit difficult. Nevertheless, “Showtime” needed just one opportunity to break the deadlock and it came in the 39th minute. The prolific striker met a Dominic Douglas` cross from the left flank and shot it first time from inside the box for the 1-0 lead and his fifth goal of the tournament.

Ten minutes into the second- half, Cunupia FC was awarded a penalty for a handball in the box. Woodley stepped up and slotted home his second goal of the afternoon. Goalkeeper Kerdeem Duncan made a valiant effort by getting a hand on the shot, but it was too powerful to be kept out. The match ended 2-0 with meant that Cunupia FC move to 9 points for the third spot while Moruga FC is yet to get off the mark.

Defence Force and National Senior strikers Reon Moore and Jameel Boatswain scored a goal each within 21 minutes of their match against AC Port of Spain.

Moore ran unto a defence-splitting ball from Boatswain at the half-line mark and he blew past everyone to calmly slot home for the 1-0 lead after 16 minutes. Five minutes later, Boatswain got his team`s second goal after Jameel Cooper selflessly assisted him for an easy tap in goal.

Midfielder Che Benny pulled a goal back for AC Port of Spain scoring from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time. However, there were no more goals in the match, and it ended 2-1 in favour of Army who sit in fourth position with 8 points and AC in 8th position with three points.
