Former Trinidad & Tobago U-20 central defender, Luke Singh continued his impressive start to senior football for Toronto Fc in the MLS. The lanky defender opened the scoring for TFC in the seventh minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the Vancouver Whitecaps box to score his first professional goal. Unfortunately, for Singh his team was held to a 2-2 draw.
Scorer of Toronto’s second goal was Jonathan Osario and he was full of praises for his teammate Singh. He said, “Luke has done so well, a guy that has been patiently waiting for his time and it’s paying off…he was with us in Hartford last year. Amazing to see a young kid like that get his first goal in only his third or fourth game. He’s got a bright future, as well as all these other young players on our team.”

TFC signed Singh as a Homegrown Player through 2025 becoming the 26th player in club history to sign for the first team from the Toronto FC Academy. Singh represented Trinidad & Tobago at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship held in Florida in 2018. The 20-year-old Singh, recently signed two short-term deals with Toronto FC to play the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL) Round of 16 matches against Club Leon. He made his professional debut with Toronto FC when he came on in the 87th minute on April 7, 2021. The defender earned his first start for Toronto FC in the 2-1 victory over Leon on April 14.
Meanwhile Trinidad & Tobago and Inter Miami FC defender, Joevin Jones won his first match of the Major League Soccer season with his new team after a hard-fought comeback 2-1 victory over Philadelphia Union on Saturday at the Subaru Park, Philadelphia.
